Parker Receives NIH Award
Professor Kevin Parker has received a grant from the National Institutes of Health to use optical coherence tomography (OCT) elastography to perform biomechanical measurements in mice, showing the variations in the softness and stiffness of brain tissue over time that are associated with aging and neurodegenerative diseases such as Alzheimer’s disease. Co-investigators on this $421,880 project titled "Advanced Brain OCT Elastography" include Professor Jannick Rolland of the Institute of Optics, Dr. Maiken Nedergaard of the Department of Neurosurgery, and MD/PhD student Gary Ge.
