This senior design project incorporates chemical engineering core course contents of Mass Transfer, Fluid Dynamics, and Chemical Kinetics and Reactor Design. Proposed by sponsor SPX Flow, the goal of this project is to design a fluid mixing setup which can be used to understand the impact of viscosity on oxygen mass transfer. This project will provide pertinent information for the scale-up of bioreactors where viscosity will increase with the proliferation of organisms, and it is imperative to maintain appropriate oxygen transfer for these organisms to survive.
