Description
Kodak produces dye used in motion picture films. One of the dyes, called LUV dye, has impurities that must be removed after one of the production stages. The project goal was to develop a process that is inexpensive to install and operate, capable of meeting all purity specifications, and scaleable up to 2 kg/day throughput. The team investigated adsorption column chromatography to remove the impurities, where thin layer chromatography was performed to determine the best solvent(s) for optimal separation.
