Sayeda Yasmin-Karim Received DOD Program Training Award
Congratulations to chemical engineering Ph.D. candidate Sayeda Yasmin-Karim, who recently received a Department of Defense Prostate Cancer Research Program Training Award! Sayeda’s project will concentrate on the use of a novel device to study aggressiveness in prostate cancer growth. These awards support doctoral candidates for three years with strong qualifications and a commitment to pursuing a career as a prostate cancer researcher or clinician. Great work Sayeda!

Engineering majors continue to boast fatter salary offers than their peers, according to the most recent survey from the National Association of Colleges and Employers. Chemical engineers were offered the highest starting salaries this year -- an average of $66,886. Mechanical engineers received salary offers averaging $60,739, and electrical and communications engineering majors saw average offers of $60,646.
