Analysis of Children's Gait
Our group is very interested in the effects of pediatric obesity on the development of knee disorders in kids and osteoarthritis later in life. We have used magnetic resonance images to generate three-dimensional finite element models and to characterize localized injuries in the proximal tibia. To define the boundary conditions, we have collaborated with the Ithaca College Movement Analysis Lab to perform gait analysis of children of varying ages and sizes.
Both clinical gait analysis and finite element modeling are used to study forces on the knee joint.
