Wound Healing
Through a combination of computer modeling and experimentation we are working toward a comprehensive understanding of monolayer sheet migration. Progress in this area could lead to strategies for the re-endothelialization of small diameter vascular grafts. These images show experimental and simulated wound healing 0, 12, and 24 hours after initial wounding.
Simulation of the wound region. The computer model incorporates the dynamics of division, spreading and semi-persistent crawling that we measure for real cells. The small animation is a zoomed in view of a simulated culture growing to confluence.
