Panel on Equity and Inclusion in Chemical Engineering

Each year in the fall, the Department of Chemical Engineering holds a Panel on Equity and Inclusion in Chemical Engineering.

  • Panelists in 2020 were our alumni Mary Fromm, Vice President at Xerox Corporation, John Ofori, Senior Director of New Ventures at US Pharmacopeia, Chantel Gaudet, Process Control Engineer at ExxonMobil, and Genevieve McSpaden, Global Marketing Leader at 3M; we were also honored to have John Barker, Senior Associate Dean of the Faculty for Arts, Science & Engineering at the University of Rochester.
  • In 2021, we were pleased to welcome John Ofori, 2021 DEI Awardee, Senior Director, New Ventures at UR Pharmacopeia, Ali Anoff, Director and Assistant General Counsel – Patents at Proctor & Gamble, Bianca Dyer, PhD student at Princeton University, Maghesree Chakraborty, RET Design Data Scientist at Intel, and Sean Rodrigues, Senior Scientist at Toyota North America.

Chemical Engineering DEI Award

Starting in fall 2021, we present a special award to one of our outstanding alumni for their leadership role in equity and inclusion in chemical engineering. The award ceremony is held during the annual DEI Panel.

2020 Higher Education Excellence in Diversity (HEED) Award

The University of Rochester has received this award from INSIGHT Into Diversity magazine, the oldest and largest diversity-focused publication in higher education. This National award honors the University’s efforts to weave diversity and inclusion “into the work being done every day” across campus. America’s Best Employers for Diversity

The University of Rochester Medical Center is included in Forbes’ annual list of “America’s Best Employers for Diversity.” The list highlights 500 employers most identified by employees as being dedicated to diversity, equity, and inclusion. Those on the list have the most diverse boards, as well as the most proactive diversity and inclusion initiatives.
