Meet the Experts and Recruit Optics Students
IA provides educational training, recruitment, and networking opportunities to participating companies and exposes optics faculty and students to industry interests. This exchange improves the Institute's ability to prepare our students to assume key roles within industry, academia, and government agencies.
Company and Exhibitor Information
Resumes and Interview Scheduling
Student resumes and interview links are sent to IA members 2-3 weeks prior to each symposium. We organize resumes by class year as well as U.S. citizenship status. Feel free to email Dustin Newman at dustin.newman@rochester.edu with questions.
Interview rooms are requested at least one month prior to the event through the IA registration link. All interviews are held at The Institute of Optics’s Goergen and Wilmot Buildings. Please see the parking instructions (pdf).
Industrial Associates Job Board
Member companies and organizations are invited to post job and internship opportunities on the Institute of Optics student and alumni job board.
Email Tal Haring at tal.haring@rochester.edu to post open positions.
Company Connection Showcase
Exhibitor setup time: 1:30-3:15 p.m.
The Company Connection Showcase (CCS) is an excellent vehicle for face-to-face interaction between students, industrial partners, and faculty. This event is most similar to a career fair.
The CCS is split into two separate events, the company introductions and the company connection showcase.
Event 1—Company Introductions
Attending companies and organizations are invited to present one-minute introductory talks on the main stage. Companies often use this time to introduce themselves and share what their goals are for the symposium in terms of networking and recruitment. Companies are invited to use a maximum of two slides during the introductions.
Company Introduction Slides
If you wish to use slides during your introduction, please submit your introduction slides online. Slides should be widescreen (16:9) and submitted in .pptx, .ppt, .pdf, or .png format. Please limit slide submissions to two slides.
Event 2—Company Connection Showcase Exhibition
Companies and organizations are invited to host a booth in a large conference center space, much like an exhibition/professional conference. Students and faculty circulate the room visiting with the companies. Students are generally looking to network with companies and set up interviews for the following two days.
