Siladitya Khan Receives IEEE Instrumentation and Measurement Fellowship
Siladitya Khan (Graduate Student Member, IEEE) received the prestigious 2023 IEEE Instrumentation & Measurement Fellowship that will support his graduate dissertation research with Professor Steve McAleavey (Senior Member, IEEE) on developing and testing a non-invasive quantitative viscoelastic imaging system with Acoustic Radiation Force (ARF) induced shear wave elastography for mapping mechanical properties of infectious microenvironments.
Khan is a Ph.D. candidate in the Department of Biomedical Engineering within the Rochester Center for Biomedical Ultrasound and the recipient of the 2021 Donald M & Janet C Barnard Fellowship at Hajim School of Engineering and Applied Science.
The research project involves collaboration with Professor Marvin Doyley, Chair of Electrical and Computer Engineering, and Dr. Akshaya Gupta from the Imaging Sciences department at the University of Rochester Medical Center (URMC).
The fellowship award will provide financial support for research activities and facilitate professional development. It will complement Siladitya and Steve's earlier HSCCI grant (University of Rochester: Health Sciences Center for Computational Innovation) in the field of developing Viscoelasticity Imaging.
This advancement is particularly significant as it overcomes the traditional limitations of non-local estimation over homogeneous tissue. By leveraging the computational resources of the University of Rochester's High-Performance Computing nodes within the Center for Integrated Research Computing (CIRC), the project will enable local estimation of rheological properties over the scanned areas.
