Qiang Lin's Research Highlighted - Motion detector shrinks to microscale
Qiang Lin, assistant professor of electrical and computer engineering, and assistant professor of optics, collaborated with researchers from the California Institute of Technology in developing a microscale, ultrasensitive accelerometer—a type of motion detector—that uses laser light instead of an electrical circuit to gauge movements. What might be a possible application of this? Imagine navigating through a grocery store with your cell phone. As you turn down the bread aisle, ads and coupons for hot dog buns and English muffins pop up on your screen.
