Congratulations to Rasoul Shafipour, a PhD student in electrical and computer engineering working with Prof. Gonzalo Mateos, who has received the Best Student Paper Award at the 2018 IEEE International Conference on Acoustics, Speech and Signal Processing (ICASSP) held in Calgary, Alberta during April 15-20. ICASSP is the world’s largest and most comprehensive conference focused on signal processing and its applications, and Rasoul’s paper was selected among 2830 submissions to this year’s conference. In the awarded paper entitled “Digraph Fourier transform via spectral dispersion minimization,” coauthored by Prof. Mateos along with collaborators Ali Khodabakhsh and Prof. Evdokia Nikolova from the University of Texas at Austin, Rasoul develops a novel graph Fourier transform for efficient signal representation and information extraction from network data.
