Congratulations to Yang Li, a PhD student in Electrical Engineering working with Prof. Gonzalo Mateos, who received the Best Student Paper Award at the 2019 IEEE International Conference on Acoustics, Speech and Signal Processing (ICASSP, https://2019.ieeeicassp.org/) held in Brighton, UK during May 12-17. ICASSP is the world’s largest and most comprehensive conference focused on signal processing and its applications, and Yang’s paper was selected among 3700 submissions to this year’s conference. In the awarded paper co-authored with Prof. Mateos and entitled “Identifying structural brain networks from functional connectivity: A network deconvolution approach,” Yang addresses the problem of identifying structural brain networks from signals measured by resting-state functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI).
